People Helping People Global relies heavily on the support of our volunteers. We have many ways for you to get involved, and we pride ourselves on our ability to work with our volunteers to map out a volunteer experience that makes everyone happy. Below are a few of the ways that our volunteers are currently helping us out, but if you don't see anything that interests you, still contact us. We'll figure out a way to maximize your skills to help us in our quest to put extreme poverty in the history books. Sell El Porvenir Coffee

PHPG is fortunate enough to be working with a great nonprofit, called Building New Hope. BNH works with the El Porvenir (in English, "The Future") cooperative, which is settled atop a mountain in the Leon region of Nicaragua. BNH purchases the organic, shade grown, gourmet coffee from this cooperative for more than the global fair trade price. They offer us the opportunity to sell their high-quality coffee as a fundraiser for our organization. For every bag of coffee that our volunteers sell, $3.50 goes towards our economic development projects in Nicaragua. The benefits of this fundraising program are three-fold: 1) the farmers of El Porvenir receive enough income to live sustainable and healthy lives, 2) PHPG raises funds that go towards its projects, and 3) BNH also raises funds to support its projects in Nicaragua. This is a great, easy way to volunteer for our organization.

Write a Letter to Family Members or Friends

This is the largest source of funding that we have received for our organization. Parents, grandparents, old high school friends, and lots of others are always really interested in what you are doing right now. This is a perfect way to let them know about what you have been doing (helping impoverished people around the globe escape that vicious cycle of poverty!). We can even provide you with examples of letters, so that this fundraiser is as simple for you as possible.

Ask Your Company about Corporate Sponsorship or Company Matches

When asking companies to donate to an organization that you support, it is very important for you to have a relationship with the company that you’re asking. Companies are much more likely to provide much greater amounts when someone that they know is asking for a donation. The best way that you can help us out is by talking to your Marketing/Advertising Director or even the President. If you can convince them to consider donating to us, then we can send over a formal request on our letterhead outlining the benefits of donating to our organization and set up a meeting if necessary. If you're a bit stumped at how to go about having this conversation, we can provide you with talking points and all the support that you need to make your conversation a success.

Help out at Events

A major way that volunteers are able to help is by coming out and helping us at our events. As our organization grows and we have more fundraising events, we will be having more and more of these opportunities. Also, you can always invite your family and friends (Use that Facebook!) to all of our events.

Recruit Other Supporters and Volunteers

One of the most important things that you can do for us as a volunteer is to spread the word about our organization and its mission. The more people that you can recruit to support our organization (whether it’s financially, by word-of-mouth, or by becoming a volunteer), the more we can further our mission of eradicating poverty.

Share Your Skills

We are continually searching for new ways to improve our organization. In our opinion, we have the best and brightest volunteers in the industry, so we try to learn as much as we can from each of you. If you come across a grant opportunity that fits our organization’s mission, then let us know about it. Or better yet, if you are an expert on a particular subject matter, then we would love to have you help us out in that field.

Join us in Nicaragua

This is probably the most fun way to help out with our organization. We have tons of opportunities for you to get involved. Whether it’s going out into the field to evaluate current projects, or creating advertisements for an upcoming event, we have a job for you! All of our volunteers get discounts at local hostels and restaurants. We can even help you find the cheapest flights and ground transportation!
